House Lives Matter creates a collectable House Ballroom Calendar

As part of HLM’s ongoing commitment to raising visibility and celebrating the creativity of the House Ballroom community (HBC), we bring together a who’s who of the HBC to star in a community calendar. Created by the community for the community.

The calendar explores 12 themes set by House Lives Matter which cover many of the subjects faced by the community who are unified by their membership of Ballroom whilst often marginalized by mainstream culture. From intimacy to tradition to resilience to innovation the 12 images and GIFS created by Sammy Rawal (Equinox, Elton John, Cardi B, Reebok, Pringles and more) bring visual focus to the joy, power, movement, creativity and style the form the foundation of the culture.

The work is the first to look to capture the breadth of activity throughout the year that brings together ballroom and queer people of color in celebration and fellowship. From relevant black prides to the balls that make or break Houses across the year.

We thank everyone who was part of this endeavor for supporting us to bring this vision to life in the calendar. This is part of our legacy, our storytelling, and our narratives that need to be shared with the world. What a moment for life and in our Ballroom history to see everyone come together to creatively express and collectively develop a timeless piece of work. We are THE REVOLUTION. #HouseLivesMatter
